Wilderness is the Adventure Centre of the Garden Route: ABSEILING - Abseil next to the magnificant waterfall in the serene Kaaiman's Gorge. HORSE RIDING TRAILS - Through indigenous forest, along the beach, over the Outeniqua Mountains or in the forest to some waterfalls. FISHING - The Wilderness coast is excellent for rock and surf fishing. Touw river or at Island Lake. Fishing Rods are available for hire. PARAGLIDING - Map of Africa, Flat Rock, Kleinkrantz sites provide some of the best flights in South Africa. SENIC DRIVES - Seven Passes road (old road between George and Knysna) - drive through indigenous forests, several passes and agricultural areas. Stop at the Woodville Big Tree where you can enjoy a picnic or walk in the forest. OUTENIQUA CHOO-TJOE STEAM TRAIN - Train trip between Knysna and George. BIRD WATCHING - Wilderness is home to over 881 different bird species. The best way to view them is while on a trail walk; relax in the bird hides on Langvlei and Rondevlei. WHALE AND DOLPHIN WATCHING - The best time for Whale watching isbetween July and October when whales can be spotted anywhere along the coast. Dolphins Pointprovides a great lookout point. Throughout the year dolphins can be seen playing in the surf. CANOEING - The Wilderness National Park offers a 3 day guided canoe/hiking trail through the Lake systems. You can hire canoes to go up the Touw River to some waterfalls in the National Park. HIKING TRAILS - Pied Kingfisher Trail (3-4 hours) Giant Kingfisher Trail (3-4 hours), Half Collared Kingfisher Trail (1-2 hours) Brown Hooded Kingfisher (2-3 hours), Wilderness Heritage Trail (3-4 hours)
